The charming yellow wooden house and its enchanting garden are imbued with the spirit of the 19th-century national awakening. This was the birthplace of Estonian-language journalism and where national self-awareness first took shape.

The house served as a school for the indigenous peasantry, the editorial office of the newspaper Perno Postimees, and the home of J. V. Jannsen’s family. It was here that the schoolmaster’s eldest daughter became the beloved poet Lydia Koidula.

The Red Tower is the oldest surviving building in Pärnu. Six hundred years ago, its basement level served as the town prison. The small, thick-walled tower houses a fascinating museum that showcases the stories of medieval Uus-Pärnu.

The panoramic cinema on the attic floor takes you on a colourful journey through 15,000 years—from the Ice Age to the present day in just ten minutes.
